In collaboration with our venture capital partners Chrysalix Venture Capital, we have established a new subsidiary, Rockburst Technologies Inc. that will focus on the research and commercialization of transcritical CO2 comminution.

“So how do you come up with new ideas?” This is a common question we normally get when we explain customers and stakeholders what we do (…) These are some fundamental lessons we have assimilated over years that we think would help engineers embrace innovation as a discipline that can and should be learned.

That's right, another bronze medal (or is it silver? :) for Envisioning Labs in a global innovation competition from HeroX that involved finding creative ways to detect corrosion at the bottom of oil tanks without emptying them.

We are delighted to report that we are one of the six finalists in the Crush It! Competition organized by Natural Resources Canada. This contest aims at "finding and advancing innovative solutions that reduce energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, improve productivity and help our mining industry become more competitive".

Yes, as an innovation firm it is our job to identify opportunities for innovation for our clients, and while there is certainly a methodology to it, it is hardly something reserved for "innovative people", if such a thing exists. The -not so- secret sauce of innovation is really a two-ingredient combination: collaboration and cross-pollination. Allow me to elaborate on both.

Really glad to report that we are one of the two Canadian semi-finalists in this year’s open innovation contest Disrupt Mining organized by Goldcorp and KPMG. According to Goldcorp: “Now in it’s third year, #DisruptMining aims to encourage new ideas, spawn new technologies, and generate new opportunities to tackle the mining industry’s most vexing challenges.”

2018 was a coming of age year for us. We are proud of having assisted clients in a wide range of innovations that matter: from intelligent assistants for smart city implementations with Deutsche Telekom to designing complex devices for next-gen additive manufacturing devices for the Government of Canada.

We are delighted to announce that Envisioning Labs Inc. has been awarded a contract with the Government of Canada to develop an innovative solution for the National Research Council of Canada (NRC).

With a proposal of building an AI city assistant, Envisioning Labs earned the third prize in this international innovation contest organized by HeroX and hosted by Bonn-based multinational Deutsche Telekom. It’s like Siri for the city of Bonn, we call ‘her’ BONN-ie :)

Our very own Chief Innovation Officer, Cliff Edwards was interviewed by the BBC on his many award-winning proposals that have led to important breakthroughs in various open-source innovation platforms.

We are super excited to report that Envisioning Labs was nominated as a Finalist in the Small Business BC Awards 2018 in the category of Best Immigrant Entrepreneur! With over 650 companies from all over British Columbia competing this year, we are truly honoured to have made it to the final round.

AM is a part-creation process where material is built up over time in repetitive fashion typically by adding material in layers. It is considered fourth generation industrial revolution technology, a component of what is recently being called Industry 4.0 and in the consumer space is commonly called 3D Printing.

For all the argument we are currently having regarding immigration throughout the world, when it comes down to innovation many governments are overlooking the huge opportunity that this flow of international talent brings. Innovation feeds off on diversity of thought, and shines when there are restrictive conditions that forces creativity. 

During 2016 and part of 2017 Envisioning Labs ran Test Tube, a crowdsourced innovation initiative with the mantra: "we build innovations that matter". This was our first attempt at accelerating the creation of important innovations that would deliver social and/or environmental impact. We did not succeed.
